What
is a Municipal Tax Lease?
The
principle is simple. Ordinarily, commercial vehicle leasing
pricing is based on prevailing market interest rates. Acme's
program incorporates the municipality's tax exemption, which
translates to a proportional interest rate reduction, reduced
local taxpayer liability and a politically popular solution
for municipal clients. |

Due to current legislation*, Municipal
Tax Leasing programs are saving cities and towns substantial
sums during this most difficult economy. Shortfalls in Federal
aid and record municipal deficits have encouraged local officials
to become educated in such alternative funding methods as
sale-in, lease-out (SILO) financing. Local agencies have legitimized
over 100 such programs, such as those in Atlanta, Miami/Dade,
Houston, San Francisco and New York.
The cost
savings, often 200 - 300 basis points, are passed on to the
municipal client in the form of monthly rate reductions, shorter
terms or increased value. When acquiring new or replacement
assets, such as motor vehicles, municipalities may add benefit
by packaging warranty and maintenance.
At the
end of the lease term, Acme provides municipal clients with
option of either purchasing the original vehicle, disposing
of it, or acquiring a newer vehicle at lower costs. Municipalities
vary widely in legislative and budgetary policy, and operate
under a variety of rules concerning lease/purchase agreements.
Acme's tax leasing specialists work with clients every day
to achieve timely terms without requiring bonding, referendum,
or lengthy legislative/taxpayer approvals.
Acme's
long-term industry standing, licensing, and experienced personnel
combine tax leasing structures with applied automotive wisdom
to deliver value and all necessary documentation to local
police, fire, public works departments and other ongoing municipal
operations. |
